Travelling by car from the South
Come off the M6 at junction 36 (signposted South Lakes). Follow the Windermere signs along the A591.
On entering Windermere you will see the Windermere Hotel on your right. Go on for approximately 150 yards and take the second turning on the left into Elleray Road. The entrance to The Cottage Guest House car park can be found on your left approximately 100 yards ahead.
Travelling from Scotland
The road from Penrith along Ullswater and over Kirkstone pass is a most scenic introduction to the area.
At the bottom of the pass turn left at the mini roundabout and travel about half a mile into Windermere. Elleray Road is the first main turning on the right (signposted for Bowness).
Public Transport
We are just 5 minutes walk from Windermere train station and 1 minute walk from the nearest bus stop. With train connections from London Euston and Scotland at Oxenholme many times a day, Windermere is very accessible without a car.
The whole area of the Lake District is served by a variety of transport so the visitor can see the magnificent scenery from the best view point, whether that is a boat on the lake, or the seat of a mini bus as it climbs a mountain pass.
